What does "redeployable CCTV" actually mean?
Published 27 August 2026
"Redeployable" just means the tower isn't built into the site — it's a self-contained unit that can be collected from one location and put to work on the next. It sounds like a small distinction, but it changes the entire cost and commitment structure compared to fixed CCTV.
Fixed CCTV vs a redeployable tower
Fixed CCTV is installed for that specific building or site: cabled to power, wired into a network, and effectively permanent. A redeployable tower is solar or battery powered and self-contained, so it works anywhere it's physically placed — a construction compound this month, a vacant property the next, a farm gate after that.
Why that matters for what you pay
Because the same physical unit gets reused across many different hires over its life, it can be hired out for exactly the period a site needs rather than requiring a long-term installation to justify the cost. That's the whole basis for a genuinely no-minimum hire model — the unit isn't sitting idle waiting to earn back a permanent install; it's simply collected and redeployed to the next job.
Why that matters for what it can cover
A redeployable tower isn't tied to wherever cabling happens to already exist. It goes exactly where the risk actually is on a site — an open compound corner, a gate with no nearby building, a field with no power for half a mile — rather than being limited to whatever a fixed installation could reasonably reach.
The trade-off, honestly
A redeployable tower is a single unit covering a defined area, not a multi-camera fixed system wired across an entire building. For a large or complex permanent site with genuinely fixed security needs, a proper fixed installation may still be the right long-term answer. Redeployable towers are built for the in-between: sites that change, move, or simply don't exist long enough to justify permanent infrastructure.
